We bought our first Campervan 10 years ago after having a caravan sited in one place for years. Once both our girls had grown up , we realised we wanted more freedom to explore and travel around the uk.
Before owning a van, there was so many places we had never visited. We’d spent years returning to the same location and hadnt realised just how much beauty there was right on our doorstep.
People often ask if we have travelled abroad in the van , but the truth is we’ve never really felt the need to yet. We quickly realised there was still so much of the UK left for us to discover, even after 10 years !!!
At the time we had 2 dogs-now we travel with 3- and they have become a huge part of our adventures. Our favourite days usually involve walking, finding good food, relaxing with a view and discovering quieter places away from the crowds.
Since owing a campervan, we’ve seen some incredible parts of the UK that we would never have found otherwise. From coastal stop overs to peaceful countryside walks, campervan travel has completely changed how we spend our time.
Over the years i’ve kept travel diaries, notes, photos and tracked the costs of our trips, including campsites, fuel, food, and days out. One of the reasons for starting Van miles is to share realistic campervan travel-the places we visit, what things actually cost, and ideas for slower, dog friendly adventures around the UK.
This blog is simply a place to share the journeys , the walks, the food, and the memories we’ve made along the way.
